The Hope of Eternity

This latest release from Ovation Worship is powerful. I really believe that word “powerful” is not an exaggeration but is spot on.

There is something about the phrase, “Stone Rolled Away” that touches the heart so deeply. Maybe, because it transports us in our minds and thoughts to the exact moment Christ walked out of the grave and into our hearts. Whatever the reason, there is no denying it is inspiring.

This team of songwriters, singers and musicians have succeeded in capturing that moment and presenting it through worship.

As a pastor, I understand how difficult it can be to find just the right word or phrase that communicates what I’m really trying

to say. This song will preach! It will lift and it will encourage. It communicates the love of God.

I love the story of the resurrection.

It’s such a triumphant comeback.

Day 1

Jesus was crucified in the most horrific way imaginable.

Day 2

Day 2  All of His followers were scattered and in hiding. His earthly following was on the brink of collapsing.

Day 3

The stone rolled away as Jesus emerged from the tomb; forever conquering death, hell and the grave.

Never before in the history of humanity had we seen such a turnaround.  However, while it was the first time we had seen this, the turnaround is repeated in the hearts of everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord.

1st Peter 1:3 says:

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

In our own sin we were doomed for death and hopelessness. Yet, through the resurrection of Jesus, the stone was rolled away from our hearts and our spirits were made Alive in Jesus. This is the essence of what it means to be born again.

“The hope of eternity came alive in me that day as the stone rolled away

The darkness cannot contain what perfect love would revive

An empty tomb now remains, proclaiming Christ is alive

So I will run from this grace and kiss the old life goodbye

Because He’s mighty to save, in Jesus I am alive.”
